The search term analysis provides a deep dive into the analytics surrounding a specific search term or query.
Using the analysis, you can understand what's being searched, how often, and where visitors are searching from, and in return gain the insights to make decisions to improve your website around the search analytics.
Viewing the search term analysis
To access the search term analysis, begin by selecting a search term from the dashboard or within any pages of your analytics.
At the top of the search term analysis, you can set a specific time period to view the analytics for a search term. All the data will correspond to the timeframe set in this view.
Beside the timeframe, you can see the search term that is being analyzed. In this example, the analytics are for the search term 'pricing' for the last month.
Unique searches: This number represents the total number of sessions in which this search was performed.
Unique clicks: The number of sessions in which the user clicked on a result for this term
CTR: The CTR - click-through rate - divides unique clicks by unique searches to calculate the percentage of times a user clicked on a result. In other words: the CTR tells you the effectiveness of a search, effective being a search where a result is clicked. *For customers with cookies disabled the CTR divides total clicks by total searches.
Total searches: This number represents the total number of searches that were completed during the set time frame. For example, there may be 19 total searches, with 5 unique searches due to visitors executing a search request on the term more than once during a session.
Within this section, you will find the order of the results for the search query, with or without intelligent rankings enabled.
Intelligent Rankings: If this toggle is switched on, Cludo will automatically rank results over time based on the number of user interactions.
Note: This feature is only available to Business and Enterprise customers and must be turned on within the engine settings.
Intelligent rankings preview: Use this toggle to preview how the order of results will look with and without intelligent rankings enabled.
Unique Clicks: The number of clicks on the result in question
Adjusted by: If a result has moved up or down in comparison to the previous period (based on the time frame set), that number will appear here. Note that this is only working with Intelligent Rankings enabled.
In this section, if Cludo tools are being used, they will have a darker background.
Tools include the following:
- Page Ranking (P)
- Banner (B)
- Quicklink (Q)
- Misspelling (M)
- Synonym (S)
In this example, the search term has a banner and a quicklink attached, signified by a darker background.
You can also implement a tool from this page by clicking on the desired tool. It will then take you to the associated tool for further customization.
Searches originated from
This list displays the pages that the search was executed from. The number next to the page title refers to the total number of times the search was executed from the specified page.
