You're doing a new website? Cool - let's stay together.
It's easy to keep Cludo during a website redesign.
"But there's a built-in search with our new CMS"
All well-established CMS platforms offer a built-in search. However, these often don't include more than the basics: the ability to let users search for content on your site through a search box, displaying results that match.
What the built-in search might not offer:
- The ability to fiddle with results, adjusting the order of these and controlling what's being displayed
- Automatic spell corrections
- Synonyms and custom spell corrections
- Advanced analytics
- Machine learning
- Intelligent 404 suggestions, helping your users move on from a dead link - and helping you eliminate them. Since website redesigns can be susceptible to a lot of missing and/or moved pages, the Intelligent 404 Module becomes especially valuable here!

Content enablement: Cludo vs. the built-in search
While your CMS search will help users find content on your site, it probably won't help yourself much when it comes to gathering insights about your users. Look at your site search as your users' option to tell you what they want from your website. With this in mind, it's important that you're able to monitor their interactions with the search, improving your website content based on what's trending among the users. That's part of what we call content enablement.

Cludo redesign - step-by-step
- Change the crawler settings to match the new site structure
If you have a staging environment, it's best if you set up a new crawler to index content from here as well as creating an extra engine for test purposes, making sure that everything is good to go once your new website launches.
We strongly advise contacting support if you have the slightest concern about doing this. We know it's a technical task and are happy to help you towards the right setup, no matter if you're an Essential or Enterprise customer.
- Implement the search
It will most likely be necessary to change the code that holds your Cludo search, re-implementing the site search for your redesigned website. Luckily, implementing Cludo comes in a few easy steps, and if you had a custom design done by our front-end developers, we offer a free redesign.
